Engineering test ties were installed on the NYSWR in Lafayette, NY in June 2004. They have over 15 years of service.
The rail spikes show no signs of loosening and the ties have not moved. More recently installed wood ties are already
showing signs of spike loosening. These pictures were taken on May 26, 2014.
